Gunite Pool Construction
Gunite pool construction in Texas.
South Coast Gunite builds custom gunite pools, spas, and shotcrete structures across Greater Houston, Beaumont, and the Texas Gulf Coast. Gunite is the strongest, most versatile way to build an in-ground pool — here's how it works and why it lasts.
What is gunite pool construction?
Gunite is a mix of sand, cement, and water sprayed at high pressure over a steel-reinforced frame to form a pool's shell on-site. Because it's built in place instead of dropped in as a pre-made mold, a gunite pool can be made in virtually any shape, size, or depth — and it cures into one of the most durable structures you can build, ideal for the heat, storms, and shifting clay soils of the Texas Gulf Coast.
How a gunite pool is built
01
Excavation & layout
We mark out and dig the pool to your design, shaping the exact size, depth, and contours.
02
Steel & plumbing
A steel rebar framework is tied and the plumbing is roughed in — the skeleton that makes a gunite shell so strong.
03
Shooting the gunite
Concrete is pneumatically sprayed over the rebar at high pressure, forming one solid, monolithic shell.
04
Cure & finish
The shell is shaped, troweled, and cured to full structural strength, then finished with tile, coping, decking, and surface.
